Disrupt Dallas is a celebration and educational program for the champions that are disrupting the diversity pipeline, minority entrepreneurial market, and overall landscape.
On Tuesday, April 6th, we welcomed John Henry to help us kick off this series. John is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Loop, a Public-Benefit Corporation that set out to build an inclusive future for auto insurance. Not only is he an incredible serial entrepreneur and investor, he was also named in Forbes’ ‘30 Under 30’.
During this event, John explained how he started his career in sales and built up his skills within sales, marketing, and branding, and then used these skills to pursue his dreams of starting his own business. We got to learn where his inspiration and drive came from to create an unbiased insurance company that works for the sole benefit of its customers. We also got to hear his advice for those who struggle to find funding for their businesses, and how those who aren’t entrepreneurs can make a difference within their company.
When asked what his advice is for aspiring entrepreneurs, John mentioned that it’s critical that “the first thing you do as an entrepreneur is build confidence in yourself”. Throughout the event, it is clear that John leads by example and carries a high-level of confidence in the way he presents himself and his company. He is a true role-model in the entrepreneurial and business world, and possesses an extensive amount of experience and advice that is valuable no matter where you are in your career.
