The DEC Network: We got a chance to catch up with Amanda Lewis, founder and CEO of Floss Boss LLC, the parent company of Lewie, an oral health and beauty line of products founded in 2019.
The DEC Network: Here are a few questions we asked Amanda.
The DEC Network: What inspired you to start a business?
Amanda: [I watched as] my father owned his own pharmacies. [Having him as a role model, I was inspired to] follow suit by owning my own dental offices. As a dentist, I have a desire to help people care for their smiles. Lewie’s unique line of product[s] help[s] to do just that!
The DEC Network: We definitely see and feel your passion. Tell us a little more about your business.
Amanda: Lewie offers patented oral health and beauty products designed by a dentist to make caring for your smile fun and easy! Anyone who wants to incorporate caring for their smile into their health and beauty routine can benefit from our products, but we target women 18-45!
The DEC Network: Couple more questions! What does your day-to-day work life look like and what’s next for you and your business?
Amanda: I work as a dentist in my own office 3 days a week in Dallas. [On top of that,] I manage Floss Boss, while at the office and between patients. I try to schedule calls and meetings with sales leads and potential investors on my days off. I am constantly thinking of ways to improve the products. [I have also learned what people say,] is true…if you like what you do it isn’t work!
[In] the next 2 years, we hope to improve our products, possibly take on our first round of investment, and see retail placement in some regional and national stores. In 5-10 years, the company may be positioned for acquisition by one of the large CPG health and beauty companies, allowing our investors to regain their capital at a great margin.
